For the past while, I started a series of pictures based off of pictures taken of my sister's team mates with the intention of drawing them to a greater scale and giving the pictures to the girls at the end of their season. Well, today just happened to be the day of this season's final game, and I managed to finish the last few just prior to leaving for the game.
The final game of the season went by rather well for all but the Strikers', (my sister's team's,) coach. The opposing team was cheating, rearranging players after the first of the Strikers' serves to best return the ball. (Regulation requires that players rotate in to play in an orderly fashion, not in a spontaneous manner.) On top of that, the ref. did nothing about this, so that really wore down on Pam's nerves.
At the end of the game, I laid the pictures out on the floor to the side of the court and took a picture of them just as three of the girls came up to investigate. They stared for just a moment while more of the girls walked over until called out, "Hey, that's me!" From that point, the girls searched through them, taking their pictures and showing their parents. Emily ran back and picked up Pam's picture to bring to her, and my mother brought Megan's to her. It was great: all of the girls were exited and their parents were pleased to see them all happy.
Both Pam and Megan came up to me at separate times to thank me for this. Megan had actually said that she got a little choked up, and Pam had started to cry a bit, having some good after all of the stress. Overall, this little event had gone over spectacularly. And on top of that, all of the girls had such great manners, all of them thanking me politely.
